What is SGT?

SGT: SKU and Barcode Generator is a Shopify app. It gives every product and variant a SKU and a barcode, and lets you design and print barcode and QR code labels on the printer you already have.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes 100 credits a month for SKUs and barcodes, real GS1 UPC/EAN barcodes and unlimited label printing. Basic is $3.99 a month or $39 a year, billed through Shopify.

Are the barcodes real UPC and EAN codes?

SGT builds valid UPC-A, EAN-13, EAN-8 and ITF-14 codes with the correct check digit from your GS1 company prefix. To sell in retail stores, the prefix must be licensed to you by GS1. Without one, use internal codes or Code 128.

Which printers and labels does it work with?

Zebra, DYMO, Avery, Brother and Brady label sizes are built in, along with rolls, sheet labels, jewelry tags and any custom size. You can fine-tune margins, gaps and printer alignment.

Can I add QR codes to my labels?

Yes. Put a barcode, a QR code or both on each label. The QR code can open the product page, or hold the SKU, the barcode or your own text.

Does it print other languages and emoji?

Yes. Labels print every language, currency symbol and emoji, including Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The app itself is in English.

Will it overwrite SKUs I already have?

Only if you tick Overwrite existing. Otherwise SGT fills empty SKU and barcode fields and leaves the rest. Auto-generate for new variants only fills empty fields.

How many labels can I print at once?

Up to 5,000 labels in one print. Test print a single label first to check the layout on your printer.
