SKUs, barcodes and labels for Shopify stores in Germany
German product names with umlauts and ß print correctly, and the currency symbol can sit after the number, as is usual in Germany.
What stores in Germany usually need
| Retail barcode | EAN-13 (13 digits) |
|---|---|
| Where to get a company prefix | GS1 Germany |
| Common label paper | A4 sheets, such as Avery L7160 and L7651, and thermal rolls |
| Prices on labels | Euros. Add custom text such as "inkl. MwSt." and use a decimal comma for prices like 19,99 €. |
Barcodes from your GS1 Germany prefix
If you sell through retailers or marketplaces, get a company prefix from GS1 Germany. Enter it once in SGT and the app builds a valid code with the correct check digit for every variant, skips numbers already used in your store, and shows how many codes your prefix has left. For barcodes only used in your own shop and stockroom, internal codes or Code 128 work without a prefix.
Labels that fit your paper
Choose your exact printer and label size, or enter a custom size with your own margins and gaps. SGT prints a PDF at actual size and lets you nudge the print by a millimetre if your printer feeds slightly off.
Prices in euros
Labels can show the price and compare-at price with or without the currency symbol, before or after the number, with a decimal comma if you prefer, and with your own text. Add custom text such as "inkl. MwSt." and use a decimal comma for prices like 19,99 €. If you sell in several countries, a label can show the price for one of your Shopify Markets.
